Are you tired of the same old boring weddings? Why not add a spooky twist to your special day and have a Halloween wedding! Not only will you be celebrating the love you share with your partner, but you'll also get to have some wicked fun with your guests.
This Halloween wedding was just as fun as it looks, and incredibly close to my heart. This is my cousin Stephanie and her husband Lee, they got married on June 12, 2020 with a small backyard ceremony during COVID. The date is special to Stephanie and her mother because June 12, 1967 was the date of the Supreme Court decision Loving v. Virginia which struck down all anti-miscegenation laws still remaining in sixteen states. Both women are in interracial marriages, so being accepted by law is extremely important to them.
Stephanie is literally obsessed with Halloween, she and Lee throw a party every year. So once everything with COVID was calmed down they decided to turn their regular Halloween party into a Halloween wedding!
One of the best parts of a Halloween wedding is the costumes! Encourage your guests to come dressed in their most creative and terrifying costumes. The bride and groom came as Gomez and Morticia Adams, and no, that coffin ring isn’t her actual wedding ring, but it fits perfectly! Their late night snack was grilled cheese, and who doesn’t love a good grilled cheese on a chilly night?
I was asked to photograph this Halloween wedding and do a “photo booth” type of set up to document everyone's costumes! There was even a costume contest with trophies for the winners. One of the funniest moments of the night was my cousin Aaron AND the dj both dressing as Bob Ross, and of course they had a dance off.
Photographing Stephanie and Lee’s Halloween wedding at the Delmar Hotel Traverse City was an unforgettable experience. The unique decor, costumes, and overall atmosphere truly captured the spooky spirit of the holiday while still maintaining the elegance of a wedding. Stephanie and Lee looked awesome in their costumes, and the guests were equally impressive in their creative costumes. It was an honor to be able to capture such a special day for my family and I am grateful for the opportunity.
I would also like to express my appreciation for Stephanie's recent text message. "Hey Cuz! I just wanted to send a text letting you know how proud I am of you. You built your business from the ground up and have already had amazing success. Your photos in Ireland are absolutely breathtaking. Keep it up! You’re doing awesome. The sky’s the limit! I hope you have a wonderful day." Her words of encouragement mean the world to me and serve as a reminder of why I love what I do. Building a successful business from the ground up has not been easy, but moments like these make all the hard work worth it. Thank you, Stephanie, for your unwavering support and belief in me. I can't wait to see what the future holds for both of us.
